Do we have the right to interfere with nature?
Dr. Hammond interfered with nature on a large scale in Jurassic park. In 300 words or less explain your opinion on genetically modified foods and whether or not we should actually genetically modify food. You may have limited knowledge on this subject but explore these two web pages before you begin writing: http://www.bionetonline.org/english/content/ff_eth.htm and http://www.idebate.org/debatabase/topic_details.php?topicID=12.
300 words is a very short piece of writing. You will have to be very selective about what you write. I do not want any copy and paste, I want 300 words of your own explaining your view on this topic.

You need to draft this in your book (hand written) and then word process and post on the blog. You then need to read each others posts and leave a respectful comment about whether or not you agree with their thoughts on the topic and why - fairly short ie 2 sentences. You must do this for each person in the class.

Assessment
  1. Post 300 word explanation in your own words.
  2. How clear your viewpoint has been written.
  3. Comment on all other class members posts. A respectful comment on each of the other 8 posts is required (minimum 2 sentences).
  4. Amount of thought that has gone into your comments on others posts.
Jurassic Park 2
Write a sequel to Jurassic Park (I know there is already a Jurassic Park 2). Regardless of whether you have seen Jurassic Park 2 or not I want you to write a sequel that you think would be exciting to an audience of people aged between 15 and 25.

Length - approximately 2 typed pages

Assessment
  1. Grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitals, paragraphing.
  2. Originality of ideas and concepts with regards to the direction your story takes (story line).
  3. How well it links with the first story "Jurassic Park".
  4. Introduction of new characters and how well they are described.
